Double Seam Inspection System for Beverage Cans

Design and developed both the hardware and software for a portable, low cost double seam vision inspection system for beverage cans. The application was designed to get measurements quickly and logs everything to a database for easy review, reporting, and trending data analysis. Below is an example image from the system. This is a cross sectional view of the seam from a can. The overlap is the most important measurement and creates the seal so your favorite beverage does not leak out of the can sitting in your refrigerator.

There are a number of similar systems on the market however we were able to develop this system for less than the cost of the closest competitor. The cost per unit to manufacture allows the units to be sold at reasonable price and gives the small microbreweries confidence in their canning line’s output!
